What MOCVD does, in one paragraph
An MOCVD reactor is the reactor in the equipment line this company was founded to build — the equipment step the company's published chain names first, ahead of epitaxial growth on sapphire. The company's published chain runs from its own MOCVD equipment through epitaxial growth on sapphire to chip fabrication and packaging.
The programme's record
Company founded in Qingdao to research, develop and sell GaN MOCVD high-end equipment.
First GaN MOCVD system successfully developed.
3-wafer GaN MOCVD system developed.
6-wafer GaN MOCVD system developed — recorded in the company history as a national 863 programme project.
The company builds a UV LED production line on its own MOCVD equipment and produces 280 nm deep UV LEDs.
Why an equipment buyer should care about the LED line
Jason's structure is specific: the company that builds the reactors also runs a UV LED production line built on its own equipment in 2010. For a buyer setting up GaN or deep-UV epitaxy capacity, that is relevant background — the equipment builder is also a working epitaxy operator. It is stated as structure, not as a correspondence between any current system configuration and the devices in the chip catalogue: configurations are specified per project, and what a given configuration will grow is established in that project's specification exchange.
Who this line serves
- Research institutes and universities establishing GaN epitaxy capability.
- LED and compound-semiconductor makers adding deep-UV or GaN capacity.
- Component makers evaluating vertical integration into their own epitaxy — the same step Jason itself took in 2010.
Current system configurations are specified per project, against the wafer format, layer programme, throughput and facility inputs an enquiry states. Production-line milestones above are the programme's published history, not a substitute for a configuration discussion.
The equipment pages
- The MOCVD reactor — the reactor in the company's own equipment programme, and the generations in its published record.
- GaN epitaxy — the growth step itself: epitaxy on sapphire, and where it sits in the company's chain.
- The MOCVD process — the growth step in the published chain, and the inputs a configuration is specified against.
The documented sequence behind the two product lines
The equipment programme and the component catalogue share a documented sequence. The company was founded in 2001 to develop GaN MOCVD equipment and completed its first system in 2002; the 3-wafer generation followed in 2005 and the 6-wafer generation in 2007, the latter recorded in the company history as a national 863 programme project. In 2009 the company restructured with Qingdao municipal and Laoshan district government investment and brought in a returned-overseas doctoral team. In 2010 it opened its UV LED production line on its own equipment, and application products were commercialised by 2012. Each step is stated in the company's published history; the component catalogue rests on the later ones.
A note on scale and candour
The programme's published milestones are multi-wafer platform systems — 3-wafer and then 6-wafer generations, the documented generations of the company's reactor development. Separately, the company history records that its UV LED production line was built on its own equipment in 2010; it does not specify which reactor generation that line used. (The company history records those generations by wafers per run; wafer format for new configurations is confirmed per project.) Current configurations for new installations are specified per project against wafer format and layer programme. Buyers evaluating larger-format or high-throughput requirements should state them plainly in the enquiry — the configuration conversation is the place where platform fit is established, honestly and in detail.
