The term “deep UV”
Jason's published chip range starts at 255 nm and extends to 340 nm, with the main production bands between 260 and 320 nm. Germicidal UV LED products — chips and devices specified for disinfection rather than illumination — make up the core of the range; the 310 nm band is listed for phototherapy, and the range closes at the 340 nm edge.
The bands, and what each is for
| Band | Primary use |
|---|---|
| 255 nm | The short-wavelength end of the published range |
| 265 nm | A named band inside the main 260–320 nm production range |
| 275 nm | The band of the company's 1000 mW-class output development news |
| 280 nm | The band Jason first produced in 2010 |
| 295 nm | A listed band inside the published 255–340 nm range — no application named in the catalogue |
| 310 nm | Phototherapy devices |
The catalogue's three form families are bare chips, SMD packages and finished modules. Which form a specific band is supplied in is established per model in the enquiry exchange — ask there what documentation exists for the named model and which ratings it records. No band in the table is asserted to be available in any particular form.
An enquiry for a band names the dose target, the duty cycle and the thermal design of the finished product; which band and form fit those inputs is established per model in the enquiry exchange. See also the deep UV LED explainer.
Three ways to buy the same technology
Chips. Bare die for integrators who run their own packaging — see UVC LED chips. Packages. SMD devices in 3535 and 6868 formats for module assemblers — see UVC LED packages. Modules. The module forms named in the catalogue, by medium — water, air and surface — under UVC LED modules and the disinfection module application pages.
Where the technology came from
Jason did not start as an LED company. It was founded in 2001 to build GaN MOCVD epitaxy equipment, shipped successive reactor generations through the 2000s, and in 2010 used its own equipment to open a UV LED production line — producing 280 nm deep UV LEDs that year and commercialising application products by 2012.
Specifying a deep UV LED
A DUV enquiry states the design's own figures: centre wavelength and tolerance, radiant output at the intended drive current, package format and thermal path, and the dose the finished product must deliver at its target distance or flow. Ask in your enquiry what per-model documentation exists for the chip or package you are sourcing and which electrical and optical figures it records; send the target band and application through the enquiry form so the exchange can answer for the exact model.
Sourcing the range
An enquiry for deep UV names three things: a band, a form, and the dose target the finished product must deliver. State the band with the design's dose and duty figures, and the form — bare chip, SMD package or assembled module — from your own assembly position; the supply position for the named band in the named form is established per model in the enquiry exchange. Send all three in the first message, with the application the design serves.
Request a quotation
Tell us the wavelength, package format and quantity you are sourcing. Minimum order quantities and lead times are confirmed per product line in the quotation, against the named model and the quantities the enquiry states.
