Equipment — MOCVD Systems

MOCVD Equipment Specified as a Production Process

An MOCVD machine is bought for the wafers it will grow, not for its brochure. Jason specifies MOCVD equipment per project — reactor configuration against your wafer format, layer programme and throughput target.

What an equipment enquiry needs to define

  • Wafer format and loading: wafer diameter and wafers per run — the axis the company's own platform history is recorded on (3-wafer systems in 2005 and 6-wafer systems in 2007; wafer format and loading for a new system are confirmed per project).
  • Layer programme: the structures the buyer's devices are built from — GaN, AlGaN, or a research stack — stated in the enquiry.
  • Throughput and duty: runs per day and the production or research schedule the system must sustain.
  • Facility interface: gases, exhaust, cooling and cleanroom class at the installation site.

With those four inputs, a configuration and quotation are built per project. State the four points plainly in the first message, rather than asking for a catalogue model; a programme that arrives with a layer stack already fixed can attach it to the same message.

The published equipment history

Jason's equipment history is published and specific: founded in 2001 for GaN MOCVD development, first system in 2002, successive multi-wafer systems (3-wafer, then 6-wafer) in 2005 and 2007 — the latter recorded as a national 863 programme project — and its own UV LED production line built on its own equipment in 2010. The chip catalogue documents the company's device range — the device end of the chain the company publishes: its own MOCVD equipment, GaN epitaxy on sapphire, chip fabrication and packaging, run as the MOCVD process.

Equipment, or a production line

State the shape the purchase takes in the enquiry, with the four definition points above, and the quotation is structured accordingly. The company's own record includes the step it took in 2010 — building its UV LED production line on its own equipment.

Do you sell MOCVD machines for deep UV production specifically?

The company's own UV LED production line has run on its own reactors since 2010. State your target wavelength range and wafer format in the enquiry; see the GaN MOCVD overview for the programme record.

What a configuration includes

Which elements a given project covers — installation support and commissioning among them — is defined per project in the quotation, so the scope boundary is explicit before any commitment. State the wafer format, layer programme, throughput and facility interface in the enquiry, and ask what the configuration covers for those inputs.

The published record behind the programme

Jason's published record is a dated operating history: the programme's reactor generations (first system 2002, 3-wafer 2005, 6-wafer 2007) and the 2010 step of building its own UV LED production line on its own equipment. That record is stated here as history; what a new configuration will deliver for a buyer's layer programme is established per project, in the configuration and quotation exchange.

The programme in one record

The equipment programme's published record runs from the founding in 2001 through the first system in 2002, the multi-wafer generations of 2005 and 2007, and the 2010 step of building a UV LED production line on the company's own equipment — the record an equipment enquiry is answered against.
