What a wavelength enquiry states
The enquiry for a band in this range states the inputs the design itself fixes: the dose target the product must deliver, and the duty and thermal design it will run under. The supply position for each of the bands in Jason's catalogue — 255, 265, 275, 280, 295 and 310 nm — is established per model in the enquiry exchange.
255 nm: the range edge
At the deep end of the range, 255 nm is the catalogue's short-wavelength edge. A design that names this band names it from its own specification, stated in the enquiry, and the supply position for the band and form is established per model in the enquiry exchange.
265 nm: inside the main range
265 nm sits inside the company's main production range of 260–320 nm — see the 265 nm page. A design that names this band states its dose budget, exposure time and geometry in the enquiry; the supply position for the named band and form is established per model in that exchange.
275 nm: the development band
275 nm is the band of Jason's 1000 mW-class output development; the company's news describes the development base as a mass-produced 10 mW line rated at 10,000 hours (a company-published figure). See 275 nm chips and devices.
280 nm: the band first produced in 2010
280 nm is one of the catalogue's named bands. It also carries a company history: it is the band Jason first produced in 2010, on the production line the company built on its own equipment that year. See the 280 nm page.
295 nm: listed without an application
The catalogue lists 295 nm between the germicidal range and phototherapy, without naming an application for it. A design that names this band names it from its own specification — a band between the germicidal bands and the 310 nm phototherapy band — and the supply conversation is per model, in the enquiry exchange. See the 295 nm page.
310 nm: not a disinfection band
310 nm is the band the company's published wavelength keywords attach to phototherapy — the only application of that kind named in the catalogue, and not one of its disinfection bands. What a design at this band specifies, and what ratings are recorded for the model it names, are established per model in the enquiry exchange. Treating 310 nm as a "gentler disinfection" choice is a category error. Component supply for phototherapy devices: the 310 nm page.
What an enquiry for a band states
- The job: disinfection (which medium, what log target) or phototherapy.
- The dose figures the design works to: the dose target the design names, the exposure time available to it and the geometry the product allows.
- The per-model ratings, asked for each band: the ratings recorded for the named models of each band under consideration — established in the enquiry exchange, not assumed across bands.
- The constraints the design carries: existing validation, window materials, duty cycle and lifetime target.
- The documentation: which per-model ratings are recorded for the band and package named — the 3535 and 6868 families — confirmed in the enquiry exchange.
- The quantities and timing: the quantities the programme needs and the timing it runs to.
The rest is per-model documentation work, which starts with an enquiry naming the application.
Worked example: one product, two bands
Consider a countertop water purifier that must deliver a 40 mJ/cm² design dose to a small static reservoir over a ten-minute hygiene cycle. The enquiry names the per-model figures the comparison needs at each band — the radiant power the dose arithmetic asks for, and what each device supplies at the product's sustained drive point, on what thermal basis — and asks for each figure together with the conditions it was recorded under. The method, not the answer, is the point: the specification names the dose, the cycle and the geometry, and the per-model figures are established in the enquiry exchange for the named models.
Binning: the variable hiding inside a band name
Serious specifications name the centre wavelength and the bin tolerance, and have both confirmed in the enquiry exchange for the named model. That confirmation is made band by band and model by model: whether binning records exist for a given band, and what they show, is itself part of what that exchange establishes.
What changes at volume
State the wavelength and output bins the programme requires in the enquiry, and ask what binning records exist for the named model and band. Both conversations are enquiry-stage work, and both start from the same enquiry.

The catalogue record behind the bands
The bands in this guide are the catalogue's own. The company's published wavelength keywords list 255, 265, 275, 280, 295 and 310 nm, with phototherapy attached to 310 nm; its chip range runs 255–340 nm, with the main production bands at 260–320 nm and more than 1,000 standard chip models across the range. The 280 nm band carries the company's own production history — the first band it produced, in 2010, on the line it built on its own equipment — and the 275 nm band carries its development news: a 1000 mW-class output device developed on the base of a mass-produced 10 mW line. Those are the published facts a band choice is made against; the figures for a specific model are a separate, per-model matter.
What the enquiry states
An enquiry states the band and the centre-wavelength tolerance the design can accept; the form — bare die, a named package family, or a finished module; the dose target, with the organism set and log credit behind it; the exposure time and geometry the product allows; the drive point and duty the device will run at; the thermal arrangement the design provides; and the quantities and programme timing. Where a validation protocol fixes acceptance criteria, quote them verbatim. Against those inputs the exchange establishes which band and form are supplied for the named model, which ratings are recorded for it, and what binning records exist for the band in question.
Naming two bands
Where a programme names two bands, the enquiry states the inputs for each band it names: the dose target the design works to, the duty the device will run at, and the geometry the product allows for that band.
The thermal side of a band choice
Each band's enquiry also states the thermal arrangement the design provides — the sustained drive point, the board material and the heatsink path — because the figures confirmed for a named model are read against those conditions, band by band.
